Popsicle Exoskeleton
September 29, 2021
Too cold,
Too sweet.
This sticky, filmy membrane like the
Skin of a candy-colored lobster,
Or the body of a superintelligent mecha-warrior,
Time-traveling from the far-distant future,
And
looking
at
us...
Like WE'RE the dinosaurs.
A doppelgänger, with a sleek, flashy coating,
A yeti of such non-reactivity,
Like walking in the shoes of a deaf child.
A prototype of nature, maybe.
Built in a billion or so years,
a perfection wrought, ever so sweetly...
Were it human.
Fuzzy, speckled,
And much more dense than air.
They don't bleed.
Internal organs cushioned
By a gelatinous mass,
That
Melts in the hand
And gets your fingers
So
Sticky.
